Setting IBG as your CU mailhome
mailhome refers to where your CU email is delivered. It might be delivered to CU's Exchange server, to IBG's mailserver, to another mailserver on campus, or even to an external entity, such as gmail. Where email is delivered is a personal decision, and everyone should pick the location that works best for each person's needs.
Advantages and disadvantages
IBG email delivery
Advantages
- Jeff Lessem and Sean Shelby can help you with email issues.
- IBG can offer unlimited 1) email storage. Mail quotas are present, but can be raised to accommodate reasonable needs.
- Compatible with all compliant
IMAPaware applications, such as Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook, and most mobile phones, including iPhone and Android.
Disadvantages
- Other services, including CU's ''Exchange'' server, may offer more advanced features which IBG does not support.
CU's Exchange Server email delivery
Advantages
- Exchange has many advanced features, including calendering, global address books, and easy setup for Microsoft Outlook and some mobile devices which support the ActiveSync protocol.
- Exchange offers an advanced web client, which is more sophisticated than Squirrelmail.
Disadvantages
- Jeff Lessem and Sean Shelby can only give minimal help to
Exchangeusers. Advanced help will require contacting OIT. - 1GB initial quota with increases in .5GB increments upon request. The maximum is not stated.

This is unlimited in the not-really unlimited sense that phone companies and ISPs use for unlimited, in that there are limits, but reasonable users are not expected to exceed them.
