====== THE 2012 INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON STATISTICAL GENETICS AND METHODOLOGY OF TWIN AND FAMILY STUDIES: THE INTRODUCTORY COURSE ======
**MARCH 5TH - MARCH 9TH, 2012**

The next workshop will be held in Boulder, Colorado, March 5-9, 2012, with John Hewitt as local host. Much of the application programming will be based on the new source package [[http://openmx.psyc.virginia.edu/|OpenMx]], developed by Drs. Boker, Neale & colleagues for the flexible analysis of genetically informative data. Mike Neale serves as the Academic Director for the workshop and is joined by about outstanding faculty from universities around the world.

The course will include: causes of variation; path analysis; univariate twin analysis; biometrical genetics; introduction to [[http://www.r-project.org/|R]] programming; likelihood; matrix algebra; categorical data; between group heterogeneity; multivariate phenotypic factor and genetic analysis; developmental models; power analysis; extended twin designs;  responsible conduct of research. Hands-on analysis will be emphasized employing networked notebook computers

Analyses will be done using the [[http://openmx.psyc.virginia.edu/|open source version of Mx]] based on [[http://www.r-project.org/|R]] programming. This workshop is a great opportunity to upgrade your expertise. The registration fee will be $600.00, payable by January 27, 2012. Thereafter, the registration fee will be $700. Cancellations after February 10th, 2012, will be non-refundable.
