THE 2012 INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON STATISTICAL GENETICS AND METHODOLOGY OF TWIN AND FAMILY STUDIES: THE INTRODUCTORY COURSE

The next workshop will be held in Boulder, Colorado, March 5-9, 2012, with John Hewitt as local host. Much of the application programming will be based on the new source package OpenMx, developed by Drs. Boker, Neale & colleagues for the flexible analysis of genetically informative data. Mike Neale serves as the Academic Director for the workshop and is joined by about outstanding faculty from universities around the world.

The course will include: causes of variation; path analysis; univariate twin analysis; biometrical genetics; introduction to R programming; likelihood; matrix algebra; categorical data; between group heterogeneity; multivariate phenotypic factor and genetic analysis; developmental models; power analysis; extended twin designs; responsible conduct of research. Hands-on analysis will be emphasized employing networked notebook computers

Analyses will be done using the open source version of Mx based on R programming. This workshop is a great opportunity to upgrade your expertise.
