THE 2010 INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON STATISTICAL GENETICS AND METHODOLOGY OF TWIN AND FAMILY STUDIES: THE INTRODUCTORY COURSE

MARCH 1ST - MARCH 5TH, 2010

The next workshop will be held in Boulder, Colorado, March 1 – 5, 2010, with John Hewitt as local host. Much of the application programming will be based on the new open source package OpenMx, developed by Drs. Boker, Neale & colleagues for the flexible analysis of genetically informative data. Mike Neale serves as the Academic Director for the workshop and is joined by over twenty outstanding faculty from universities around the world.

NEW THIS YEAR! This year will introduce the new open source version of Mx based on R programming. The current version of Mx is being phased out. This workshop is a great opportunity to upgrade your expertise. The website for the new version is at: http://openmx.psyc.virginia.edu You will receive a username and password once you have completed your registration for the workshop.

Details of local arrangements, registration, and accommodation are available from the workshop secretary, Leza Clymer. A home page and wiki is at http://ibgwww.colorado.edu/workshop2010

The course will include: causes of variation; path analysis; univariate twin analysis; biometrical genetics; introduction to R programming; between group heterogeneity; analysis of raw data; multivariate factor and genetic analysis; measurement invariance; categorical data; power analysis; comorbidity; extended pedigrees; development; endophenotypes; and association. Hands-on analysis will be emphasized employing networked notebook computers.
