Once you power on the system, press the Esc key to get to the Boot_Admin> prompt. Load the HP-UX Install Disc into a caddy, if required, and put into the CD-ROM drive. To boot from CD-ROM, search for the bootable devices. At the Boot_Admin> prompt, type search>:

Choose Install HP-UX and the system will ask you:
If you plan to use a network software depot to load the operating system, you will need to enable networking at this time. Would you like to enable networking now?[y]Answer n as we are installing from local media.
The install will then present the "HP-UX Install Utility - Select Whole-System Configuration" screen. The system has already probed to find the available hard drives.
Select Standard LVM Configuration.
In general, the default installations is the non-LVM
configuration. However, the LVM configuration allows for
separate logical volumes to contain (at least) /, /usr,
/opt, /var, /tmp, and primary swap. Because of this, it
is recommend that you choose the Standard LVM configuration.
Use the "tab" key to move to the OK button and
press "Return".
After you have selected the root disk configuration and file system
layout, you can modify several basic configuration parameters and choose
the HP-UX software bundle.
Help is available for each parameter by pressing F1 or CTRL-F
with the cursor positioned on the parameter of interest.
For software selection, choose CDE Runtime Environment.
For /home Configuration, choose All Remaining disk space.
When all the parameters are correct (and you choose OK),
the System Configuration screen summarizes the configuration and
asks if you want to create a custom
configuration (the Modify Disk/FS Parameters button) which gives you
additional parameters to change.
None of these should require modification.
Press OK and the system will check for any problems and display them for
you to correct before proceeding.
To install the required bundles/products, the
install process invokes the swinstall command. The next screen
lets you choose to work with this new utility interactively or
non-interactively.
Choose no for the non-interactive install.
The non-interactive install will load the indicated software and display activity logs which can be used to monitor the process. This process takes from 30 to 60 minutes. When installation has completed, the system will automatically reboot from the new system disk.
