Co-Principal Investigator. Thomas J. Crowley, MD, first did drug abuse research in his psychiatric residency in 1963-66. His work has included human and animal behavioral studies, as well as clinical treatment studies. Honors outlined in his biosketch include having been President of both the College on Problems of Drug Dependence and the Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse; membership on the Drug Abuse Board of Scientific Counselors from NIDA's Intramural Research Program; membership on the Drug Abuse Council of NIAAA; membership on the committee which drafted the section on substance use disorders in DSM-IV; and participation in the National Academy of Sciences panel reporting on "medical marijuana". Crowley is a long-time NIDA grantee. He directs the Division of Substance Dependence of the Department of Psychiatry, University of Colorado School of Medicine.
